A2LA Grants ECM Expanded Scope for ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Accredited Laboratory

Topsfield, MA, March 22, 2016 (Newswire.com) – ECM – Global Measurement Solutions announces an expanded scope to its existing ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Accredited Laboratory Certification for instrument calibrations. The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) is a non-profit membership society which provides laboratory-related accreditation services and training to companies that complete the rigorous inspection process and meet all requirements set forth by the membership society. In recognition of the successful completion of the A2LA evaluation process, accreditation was granted to the ECM laboratory to perform the following instrument calibrations: Laser Trackers, Total Stations, Theodolites, Articulated CMM Arms, Scale Bars, Levels, Large Volume Scanners, Laser Distance Meters, Handheld Scanners, Electronic Rulers and SMRs. “The 17025 accreditation calibration certification provides our customers with piece of mind that their equipment has been calibrated by a professionally recognized and accepted procedure from an internationally accredited body,” explains Lucas Prato – Operations Manager at ECM.

Having an ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Laboratory certification assures customers that their systems are calibrated using standards traceable to a National Metrology Institute (NMI).  ECM was awarded this accreditation in September of 2014 as one of the first non-OEM laboratories in the country to offer the ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration for large scale measurement instruments. In 2015 ECM continued to expand its scope by adding several more metrology instruments, building on their goal to provide “one-stop” shopping for all of their customers. Each piece of equipment that is calibrated by ECM contains a calibration certificate which presents comprehensive results and allows the customer to apply a calculated level of uncertainty to each measurement parameter.

The foundation of a successful business strategy is a solid management system. The management system defines how work is done; the desired outcomes; and the controls enforced to ensure those outcomes. “Management system standards such as ISO/IEC 17025:2005 help our organization control its processes. This in turn makes us a better company and assures our customers of the highest measurement integrity,” states Gary Confalone – President/CEO of ECM – Global Measurement Solutions.
